Jim Hartigan

Our VIKING SPOTLIGHT in the May newsletter features Jim Hartigan, Class of 1979. Jim has been a valiant supporter of Coach Deyo and the NHSAF Deyo Scholarship Fund.  He promoted the Chuck Roast in April, 2015, and took it upon himself to inspire additional donations of $5000 this year to help Chuck’s legacy continue for more years to come.   Now living in Memphis, Tennessee, Jim is Partner and Chief Business Development Officer for OrgWide. We would like to offer a big “thanks” to Jim for all his support for his NHS alma mater and his efforts with our alumni foundation!  Below is a bio about Jim, followed by some pictures.

Jim Hartigan is a 1979 graduate of Northland High School.  During his time at NHS he was involved in the instrumental music department where he played clarinet and saxophone as well as served as Drum Major of the marching band in 1978 and 1979.  Jim also wrestled for Chuck Deyo all three years at NHS, where he was a two time City League champion and his senior year won the Central District at 98 lbs. representing NHS in the State Tournament.  Jim was the 1979 class president and gave the commencement speech at graduation.

Jim studied at both BGSU and OSU before embarking on a career in the hotel industry.   After 15 years working in the hotels, he spent another 15 years at the corporate office of Hilton Worldwide, where his last post was that of Senior Vice President, Global Brand Services.  In 2004, Hartigan was the first client of Orgwide, his current firm. Together they streamlined a 12-day general manager course for the Hampton brand into a four-day online and onsite course launching online learning for Hilton.  During his tenure at Hilton, he led the implementation of multi-level culture and service programs for each brand.

Hartigan finally listened to the entrepreneurial siren’s call and left Hilton to join Orgwide as Chief Business Development Officer and Partner in April 2010.  At the core, Orgwide provides instructional services with a dedicated, no-holds barred, fixation on client delight.  Orgwide has grown steadily with the concept that there is a place in the training field for experts who are dedicated to creating interesting, custom learning solutions with a sense of personality.   Jim’s focus as a 50% owner at Orgwide has been in branding, sales and marketing.

Jim graduated cum laude from the University of Memphis in 2011 (after taking a few years off to build a career) with a BA in Communications.  Born a Buckeye, graduated a Tiger, Jim lives in Memphis, TN along with his 25 year old daughter Stephanie and her husband Alex, and his 20 year old son Jimmy (a snare drummer at Mississippi State University).  For those that follow Jim on Facebook, you know he is a four time marathon finisher and an avid sports and especially a Memphis Grizzlies fan.
