Hello Northland Alumni and Friends,

On November 11th many of you may have remembered classmates, friends and family members. It was Veterans Day, the day when Americans take time to celebrate those who served in the military. We honor the sacrifices they made to defend our freedoms and way of life. Take a minute to see our list of Northland alumni who served on our Viking Veterans page. Thanksgiving and... Presidents???

Several U.S. Presidents helped to shape the Thanksgiving holiday we know today. In 1789, President George Washington became the first President to proclaim a Thanksgiving holiday. At Congress' request, he named Thursday, November 26th as a day of national thanksgiving for the U.S. Constitution.

During the Civil War, President Abraham Lincoln in 1863 declared the last Thursday of November as the day to celebrate Thanksgiving, and it became a federal holiday across the nation. In 1941, President Franklin Roosevelt signed into law a resolution establishing the holiday as the fourth Thursday in November.

NORTHLAND REMEMBERS

We are creating a new section on our alumni website, a memorial page for Vikings no longer with us. Do you know of a Viking classmate or friend who has passed away this year or in past years? Reach out with any basic information you may have. This new section will include the alumnus name / graduation year (or years Northland was attended) / Date and year of passing. Please include these 3 pieces of information and send to mschmid.alum@northlandhigh.com

Thursday, February 4, 2022, 7:00pm - NHS Home Boys Basketball game vs. Beechcroft (NHSAF Alumni Gathering Game)

Sunday, February 20th, 3:00pm to 5:00pm, annual Bowl-A-Mania - Sequoia Pro Bowl

Join our Monthly Alumni Meeting

Interested in getting involved? Our next NHSAF monthly organization meeting will be held in-person on Tuesday, December 14th, 2021 at Northland High School. The meeting starts at 6:30pm
