Were you at Northland in the 1985 School Year? Forty years ago, the US population was 237,923,795 people and the average life expectancy was 74.7 years. The median household income was $23,618 and the average new home cost $100,800. The top-rated television show was "The Cosby Show" and following it on Thursday nights, was the number two show "Family Ties." Click the link below to check out all the other great shows of the year in the middle of the wonderful 1980's decade.

At the Grammys "We Are the World" took home several awards including Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Pop Duo or Group. Album of the Year honors went to Phil Collins for "No Jacket Required."

Flashback to 1985

Back at Northland, the 1984-85 school year full of ups and downs, but mostly great memories. The Viking Football team struggled under first year coach Bruce Smith, ending the season with a 2 and 10 record while the Soccer team won the City League Championship and Boys Basketball took City, Sectionals, and District Championships.  Homecoming Queen Debbie Wilson and King Kevin Allen presided over Northland's Homecoming "Midnight Mirage" Dance.
