Alumni Spotlight Courtney Carroll-Kruse

This month’s VIKING SPOTLIGHT is Courtney Carroll-Kruse, Class of 1985. Courtney passed away last year after a brave battle with leukemia. Please check out Courtney’s spotlight post-memorium. The “Riding In Stile” Gala and Silent Auction raises tax deductible donations for the Pelotonia, and the fight against cancer at the world class James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute. This year, Courtney’s life will be celebrated at the event on Wednesday July 31st.

This year’s gala will honor the memory of Courtney Kruse (1967 – 2018), recipient of the Richard J. Solove Award. Courtney was an adventurous flight attendant who rode a Harley and even raised bees! Courtney was diagnosed with Leukemia and although her prognosis was grim, and she was suffering daily, Courtney kept her spirits up. She even found joy when she married the love of her life, Clay Kruse, surrounded by close family in her hospital room! Courtney graduated from Northland High School in 1985 and then graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1990. After college, Courtney was hired by United Airlines as a flight attendant. In December of 2006, she switched companies to work for Net Jets in Columbus, Ohio. She was diagnosed with Leukemia in May 2017 and passed away one year later in May 2018.
