ADAM LAUS, Class of 2005, Alumni Spotlight for January 2019
(Foreword by Anne Fierce Krieger ’72)

“I traveled to Las Vegas last September with Team Ohio to attend the KWC World Championship USA for Karaoke. We arrived a day early and had time to dine with the team and enjoy Vegas. Sitting at the table, chatting with our group, I mentioned that I went to Northland High School. Someone yelled from the other end of the table, Northland??? Who would have realized that someone from the Class of ’72 and Class of 2005 would have anything in common? But, instantly we felt like we had been friends for years! That’s what it feels like to be a part of the Viking community. No matter when you graduate, you are forever a Viking!”

1. What were your favorites at Northland?

  • Teacher Ms. Fitzpatrick (Band Director)
  • Teacher Ms. Renchler (Choir Director)
  • Teacher Ms. Merelli (Drama Director)
  • My favorite class (see above)
  • Hangouts – not gonna lie, I loved sneaking away at lunch and going to the DQ at the circle. Just to decompress for a bit.

2. Tell about your most memorable moment at Northland High School. My most memorable moments at NHS are always going to be marching down the field at football games, Script Vikings for homecoming, and representing NHS at Disney with the marching band.

3. What was your family expectation of you? Work Hard. Serve Others.

4. How did your Northland experience help in your life/job? I’m not sure. But I know that my love of music, and drama were amplified there. 8-D

5. We understand you compete in Karaoke Singing events. Tell us about your passion, involvement and accomplishments? I love to sing, I think it gives me an outlet to say things and help people that I don’t think I could otherwise. Last year I competed in the KWC Ohio qualifying competitions. Made it all the way to states. Won. And I was able to represent Ohio as part of a team in nationals in Vegas.
