Some of the earnings—approximately 10% of the market value—are spent each year in support of high school operations and activities; the remainder is added back into the principle, ensuring steady growth of the fund.

SOLID FOUNDATION: Increasing the size of NHSAF’s endowment over time is essential. Building a larger endowment will allow NHS to excel in the following areas:
• Improving the lives of current students
• Maintaining and improving school facilities
• Helping various organizations
• Sponsoring high school student activities

HOW TO HELP: A gift of endowment may be designated or undesignated; made in many forms such as cash, stock, life insurance, and real estate; and offer certain tax advantages. In any case, the interest income from the gift will be used only for the purposes designated by the donor.
