Pop Culture 2010

What was going on at Northland in the 2009-2010 school year? Without a doubt, one thing dominated the year and that was Basketball, and more specifically Jared Sullinger. Not only was the boys varsity basketball team ranked the number one team in the nation by USA Today. Jared and his father, Coach Satch Sullinger, also had the honor of being the first father/son duo named Naismith National Player and National Coach of the year.

There was more than Basketball happening at Northland, Kevin Ferguson and Tiaira Turner were crowned Homecoming King and Queen

and the Stem Club competed in its second straight National Competition.

The Viking Marching band had the honor of marching in Ohio Stadium and the Drama department put on 4 plays “Check Please”, “Rumors”, “Up the Down Staircase”, and You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown”.

The students of Northland High also continued the tradition of giving with Drama department collecting over 1000 pounds of food for local food pantries and art students auctioning off their works to raise money for Partners in Conservation.
